The Belgian Center for Fruit Growing (Pcfruit), together with the Universities of Hasselt and Maastricht, is starting a study on the usefulness of fruits in the production of building materials or textiles. This is reported by the Dutch Fruit Growers Organization (NFO).
Fibers from plants such as hemp are already being used as insulating material in construction. Pcfruit wants to explore whether substances found in fruit varieties could also find new uses. For fruit growers, this can be useful when, for example, there is an additional destination for fruits that are currently being processed industrially.
This includes ferulic acid. “This acid is found in several types of fruit. For example, it can be used in the textile industry to make clothing biodegradable,” Pcfruit Managing Director Dani Bylemans told VRT radio.
In addition to Pcfruit’s collaboration with the Universities of Hasselt and Maastricht, the pilot center is collaborating with the textile innovation center Centexbel in Ghent and Compas Agro in Venlo. The province of Limburg, Flanders and the European Union are jointly allocating 4 million euros for the study. This period is three years.

Az üvegházi kertészetben dolgozó FNV-tagok túlnyomó többsége nem ért egyet a munkáltatók végső javaslatával.
A szakszervezet szerint jelentős a szakadék a munkáltatók végső ajánlata és az FNV bérkövetelményei között. A munkaadók képviselői 3. január 1-től 2023 százalékos béremelést, 2. július 1-től 2023 százalékos béremelést javasolnak. Linda Slugter, az FNV Agrarisch Groen igazgatója azt állítja, hogy ezzel a javaslattal minden bizonnyal 5 százalékkal csökken az alkalmazottak száma. .
Slagter merésznek nevezi az FNV tagjainak döntését, hogy ebbe nem járultak bele. Úgy véli továbbá, hogy túl gyakran teszik próbára a munkavállalók munkaadóik iránti lojalitását. „Csalódottak vagyunk emiatt, és arra kérjük a munkaadókat, hogy tegyenek jobb ajánlatot.”
Általános árkompenzáció
Az FNV azt szeretné, ha a megélhetési költségek növekedése a bérekben is megmutatkozna. Emellett a szakszervezet javasolja az általános árkompenzáció beépítését a kollektív szerződésbe. Slugter szerint az FNV tisztában van azzal, hogy az üvegházas kertészek is nehéz időket élnek meg, de azt is látja, hogy egyre több alkalmazott nem tudja már, hogyan tudná ezt anyagilag támogatni.
„Ez elégedetlenséghez vezet a munkahelyeken, és a munkaadók végső kollektív szerződési javaslata sem javít a helyzeten” – mondta a szakszervezet vezérigazgatója. Az FNV szerint átlagosan mintegy 35,000 ezer alkalmazott foglalkozik üvegházi kertészettel. A főszezonban ez a szám jóval magasabb.
